Well . This question is addressed to both students and teachers .Personally , i am convinced that the exams are not enough to value the ability of the student .And i am against that teachers use the marks of the exams as the final marks . i am sure that many of you agree . But , why do not the teachers include the marks of the presence , participation and so on . Because there are some students that you have never heard of , they come the day of the exam and they took good marks .THIS IS NOT FAIR .And one more thing , May be the student in the day of the exam was sick , may be he has a family problems , may be he was confused . I need convincing answers .

yeah I'm totally with u even I'm not concerned bcz this problem is theoritically solved in LMD system .

Brayant !Thank you very gently for posting such an interesting point !I definitely support your opinion, "YES , its Unfair".Why ?
Simply, These people what we call them teachers (except the best ones & the talented ) are not suitable for teaching @ all , because they don't have fair will in their job and just passing balls.but me personally feel that .If I am head department I will make it runs like the military brigade. Don't wonder ! This is the aftermath of the ex-socialist system ; "shoulders , ....& ..."
P.S: My official Greetings and the assurances of my highest consideration to the real teachers of British & American modules .

In addition in what you said Bryn, what killing students are marks of Am, Bri and Ling ...modules that we used to write essaies in them, why the highest mark alway 14/20? what about the othersix points ? that what makes our general marks low.
The problem is not in teachers, the problem in the used system.

I think this case is not only in education but in many other fields. Any one who has the power or the othority to do something, would prefer some ppl on others, sometimes for no reason ...as he can be unfair with others for no specific reason.
What you can do is: give your best- Fight for your rights- and...pray God.
I believe that this situation is not "reparable"...simply because you can't change all ppl.(starting from the president to the doorman...this is the Algerian policy(

I thought of adding my opinion to the already well-expressed ones of yours. I totally agree with what Bryne said ; marks are not an adequate meassure to the real level of the student. I, myself, never questioned the teacher for giving me a good or a bad mark. Truth be told, I get upset for having a bad one, and vice versa, but wouldn't react. It will only make things worse. I believe the existent method of giving marks is now known. There are some teachers who focus more on the style and the way of writing, and they would probably give good mark to a student who's totally out of topic. While others emphasize on the information provided by the student and don't tolerate any deviation from the main topic. As far as the presence and the participation, I think they should be taken into consideration. By doing so, the student is showing his willing to get better, even if he/she is not that good. Therefore, she/he should be rewarded.

Our educational system is dysfunctional, as well as the evaluation procedures. At first, we ought to ask why it’s called evaluation? It’s a subjective way to correlate between the Student’s level and his marks, so if the mark doesn’t reflect a side of the student’s educational level or academic skills, the whole evaluation process is a mere lame…
