"2nD Year LmD" THese Are Steps To Write A GooD Book ReView
GooD Day GuyZ!!
I recommande for all Of You Guyz These Steps below, Personally I found'em Usefull (I had a Good Mark Using'em..^^) So I saw That It Would Better If I Share'em With Our Friends Comming From The 1sT Year ....LMD Of course!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
InTroDucTioN:
First Of All: Give a Small Biography About The Writer (Who?, When?, Where?, What Did He Wrote??, Other Works ...) So You shoulD Start With all This Bla Bla Bla !! Then Just In The Same Introduction, Briefly You :
2/ Introduce the
subject, scope, and type of book
*Identify
the book by author, title, and sometimes publishing
information.
*Specify the type of
book (for example, fiction, nonfiction, biography, autobiography). Help your readers to review
with perspective.
*Mention the book's theme.
- Sometimes you will need to
include background to enable reader(s) to place the book into a specific
context. For example, you might want to describe the general
problem the book addresses or earlier work the author or others have done.
Body:
3/ Briefly summarize the
content
*For a nonfiction book, provide an overview, including
paraphrases and quotations, of the book's thesis and primary supporting points.
*For a work of fiction, briefly review the story line for readers, being careful not to give away
anything that would lessen the suspense for readers.
4/ Provide your reactions to
the book
*Describe the book: Is it interesting, memorable,
entertaining, instructive? Why?
*Respond to the author's
opinions: What do you agree with? And why? What do you disagree with? And why?
*Explore issues the book
raises: What possibilities does the book suggest? Explain. What matters does the
book leave out? Explain.
*Relate your argument to other
books or authors: Support your argument for or
against the author's opinions by bringing in other authors you agree with.
*Relate the book to larger
issues: How did the book affect you? How have your opinions about the topic
changed? How is the book related to your own course or personal agenda.
Conclusion:
5/ Conclude by summarizing
your ideas
Close with :
a direct comment on the book, and tie together issues raised in the review.
Briefly restate your main points and your thesis statement if your teacher
requires it. If you like, you can offer advice for potential readers.

I hope this will be helpful for all 2nd year students.
Best wishes and thanks a lot brother.
Single Book Report :
A/- 1st Reading :
- What are the themes of the book (theme=topic).
- How is the book structured or organised ?
- Give your intentions (tone and style).
B/- The summary may be reading if u haven't met problems in the book.
C)- Extra Reading :
If you have met some important passages or an aspect of the subject or the general background are not clear, it is necessary to make an extra reading :
- If you don't uunderstand the style of the author.
- The review is the most demanding and should be after the 2nd reading.
Read two books (1Lit, 1 Civ) .
Note down keywords, general impressions, language, style & tone, ( sad, happy ...).
N.B: "(Short qutations can be used)"
The Structure:
- (Logical conjunction, organised ... etc)
- Are the articles organised (logical, ordered, arbitrary ... etc) ?
...
(Sorry I don't have all the lesson, u know Mrs.Brakni don't let u write everything but u can borrow a copy book from my classmates) .
Best wishes and thanks a lot brother.

Re: "2nD Year LmD" THese Are Steps To Write A GooD Book ReView
Methodology of Research:
* Single Book Report:
- How to get about :
- Criticism:
Before reading a book:
- The author, who is "he" (journalist, writer, ... ) and other works and on that topics.
- The date of publication.
B/- The 1st reading:
1)- Don't read reviews of books before reading itself.
2)- When you are reading you must be an active reader i.e (take notes down).
- In order to have the general lines of the work.
* What are the themes of the book ?
* How is the book organised (structured).
* Give your first intentions about the tone and style.
3/- The summary may be written after the 1st reading if you don't meet any problems of reading.
C/- Extra Reading:
- If you have not difficulties (in some passages or an aspect or the general background are not clear so you have to do an extra reading).
- If you don't understand the style of the author.
- When you solve all these problems, you can write your summary.
D/- The summary: (4pts)
- It represents the main elements of the book and indicates how they are linked.
- It can't contain anything which can't found in the book.
- It should be very clear, written as continuous text.
- Its main aim is to give the reader who hasn't read the book an exact idea.
- You aren't obliged to follow the order of the book.
- When writing a summary you must follow this :
1- Understand the text at all.
2- You pick out the main elements.
3- You rewrite a coherent summary of these elements.
4- You express yourself accurately and successively.
5- It is necessary to make a long draft.
6- The summary can be limited into 2 pages.
C/- The Review:
Reading a book and criticise is the most demanding, and should be attended after 2nd reading, because how can you review a book if you don't understand a subject ?!.
The criticism of the book can be on several levels.
Style-Structure-The Book Contribution.
Now with Multiple Book Report :
Sec1: Intro:
Presented and summarised briefly (intro) to the essential points of the review.
Sec2: The review: (report or criticism)
Books should be reviewed one by another/separately but constantly.
The Elements of the Review:
- Style (tone).
- Structure (organisation of ideas)
Subject matter (content)
Analysis, themes conclusion
- Approaches books contribution (merits) (why it is with reading it? ).
- Establish the type of relationship between the books, vary:
Type1: In some cases they (books) deal with 1 topic from different point of views.
Type2: May deal with one aspect of specific topic.
Type 3: Books may deal with several complement topics.
Discover /Identify and define with maximum concision the essential aspects of these relationships (similarities and differences).
- Analysis must be as far as deep as possible. (Don't be superficious).
- Avoid writing an essay about the topic.
(Give complete bibliography).
Remember : Basic aim is to compare two books.
N.B: Foot notes are allowed.
And do not exceed two pages in multiple book report (All that is concerning Ma'am Brakni)
Sorry for the mess, but this is (I think) better than previous one. If u need any further help, I'm ready to answer and ... better to start right now. Try to read some of these books:
