Interesting facts about...
The post's aim is to represent interesting facts about famous historical figures. Let's start with a prominent leader in the African-American Civil Rights Matin Luther King.
*There are over 1,000 streets in the world named after Martin Luther King Jr! This shows his greatness, doesn't it? Not only streets were named after him but
*The Lorraine Motel, where King was assassinated, is now the site of the National Civil Rights Museum.
*Here are little known facts about the civil rights leader. watch this video, it's really amazing!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSvEMsdcYxA
*Do you know that in the USA there is a day called "The national Martin Luther King Day of Service"? Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?'"
Each year, Americans across the country answer that question by coming together on the King Holiday to serve their neighbors and communities.
*I end with Luther King's quote about greatness:
"Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. you only need a heart full of grace. a soul generated by love."
He is really a GREAT man

Re: Interesting facts about...
Hiiii! Today's historical figure is a military and political leader of Germany who launched World War Two and bears responsibility for the deaths of millions, including six million Jewish people in the Nazi genocide. Did you guess who is he?
Of course that's Adolf Hitler
The first thing about this German leader, that I didn't know, is that he was the illegitimate child of Maria Anna Schicklgruber and Alois Hitler
Here are very interesting facts about Hitler's Social behavior and personal habits
SOCIAL BEHAVIOR
• While dining with the others, Hitler will allow the conversation to linger on general topics, but after a couple of hours he will inevitably begin one of his many monologues. These speeches are flawless from start to finish because he rehearses them any time he gets a moment.
• His favorite topics include: “When I was a soldier,” “When I was in Vienna,” “When I was in prison,” and “When I was the leader in the early days of the party.”
• If Hitler begins speaking about Wagner and the opera, no one dares interrupt him. He will often sermonize on this topic until his audience falls asleep.
PERSONAL HABITS
• Hitler has no interest in sports or games of any kind and never exercised, except for an occasional walk.
• He paces frequently inside rooms, always to the same tune that he whistles to himself and always diagonally across the room, from corner to corner
• Hitler’s handwriting is impeccable. When famous psychologist Carl Jung saw Hitler’s handwriting in 1937, he remarked: “Behind this handwriting I recognize the typical characteristics of a man with essentially feminine instinct.”
ENTERTAINMENT
• Hitler loves the circus. He takes real pleasure in the idea that underpaid performers are risking their lives to please him.
• He went to the circus on several occasions in 1933 and sent extremely expensive chocolates and flowers to the female performers. Hitler even remembered their names and would worry about them and their families in the event of an accident.
• He isn’t interested in wild animal acts, unless there is a woman in danger
• Nearly every night Hitler will see a movie in his private theatre, mainly foreign films that are banned to the German public. He loves comedies and will often laugh merrily at Jewish comedians. Hitler even liked a few Jewish singers, but after hearing them he would remark that it was too bad he or she wasn’t Aryan.
• Hitler staff secretly made films for him of torture and execution of political prisoners, which he very much enjoyed viewing. His executive assistants also secured pornographic pictures and movies for him.
• He loves newsreels – especially when he is in them.
• He adores gypsy music, Wagner’s operas, and especially American college football marches and alma maters.
• To excite the masses, he also uses American College football-style music during his speeches. His rallying cry – “Sieg Heil!” – was even modeled after the cheering techniques used by American football cheerleaders.
***History tends to hide the ufortunate and unmentionable facts relating to people that become heroic or famous. Fortunately, it is usually possible to find the odd bit here and there.
Recent research into papers relating to Hitler has uncovered the fact that when he became chancellor of Germany in 1934 he had evaded paying 405,500 million Reichsmarks in tax (6.3 million USD in today’s currency). Fortunately for Hitler, he was forgiven his tax debts when he was elected. It is believed that he earned 1.2 million Reichsmarks for sales of Mein Kampf alone, and avoided paying 600,000 Reichsmarks in tax on it. The official who forgave Hitler’s tax debt was “rewarded” with a 2,000 Reichsmarks per month tax free allowance (a huge amount considering teachers at the time were paid 4,800 per annum).
So,Hitler was a tax evader

Re: Interesting facts about...
Hi again! Today's historical figure is Mahatma Gandhi he's called by the Indians the father of the nation. He played a major role in the process of decolonization of India from the British rule.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born in the town of Porbander in the state of what is now Gujarat on 2 October 1869.
He decided to accept an offer from an Indian businessman in South Africa, Dada Abdulla, to join him as a legal adviser.
He stayed in South Africa for over twenty years. The Indians who had been living in South Africa were without political rights, and were generally known by the derogatory name of 'coolies'.
Gandhi himself came to an awareness of the frightening force and fury of European racism, and how far Indians were from being considered full human beings, when he when thrown out of a first-class railway compartment car, though he held a first-class ticket, at Pietermaritzburg. From this political awakening Gandhi was to emerge as the leader of the Indian community, and it is in South Africa that he first coined the term satyagraha to signify his theory and practice of non-violent resistance.
Gandhi was to describe himself preeminently as a votary or seeker of satya (truth), which could not be attained other than through ahimsa (non-violence, love) and brahmacharya (celibacy, striving towards God).
He was c and he is still considered one of the key figures in India’s freedom movement.
Interesting Trivia on Mahatma Gandhi:
*Gandhi’s nickname at school was Moniya.
*Mahatma Gandhi was only 13 years old when he married the 14 year old Kasturba Gandhi.
*Between 1893 and 1914 Mahatma Gandhi lived in South Africawhere he was practicing law.
*Gandhi was a vegetarian and undertook long fasts for self purification and social protests.
*While at university in England, Gandhi was elected to the vegetarian society executive committee of which he founded a local chapter.
* While studying in England, Gandhi tried learning dancing and playing the violin to try and live more like an Englishman, but later gave it up for a simple living.
*Gandhi was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize 5 times between 1937 and 1948 but never won it.
*Gandhi undertook a vow of celibacy in 1906.
*In 1921 Gandhi discarded his clothes and shaved his head and wore only a loin cloth.
To learn more on Ghandi read these anecdotes (I know that Sassy loves anecdotes : ) )

"Hatred can be overcome only by love." (I totally agree)
Mahatma Gandhi
I hope that you will enjoy it

Oh yes sweety, so many people have forgotten this HADITH:
لا يشكر الله من لا يشكر الناس
I can never benefit from a post and not say a single word to the poster (Sometimes, it's not even useful for me, but I say thanks, at least for the efforts the poster has made).
Just do things as if it were just between you and God and FULL STOP, He is the only one who will never disappoint you!
AGAIN, THANKS for the post; it is AMAZING WOUHOUUUUUUUUUU (Love Gandhi !!!!)

Re: Interesting facts about...
Thank you Sabine for the info, esp that on Gandhi. I'll sleep less ignorant tonight, so merci!
i don't like to sound like a preacher, yet i'd like to speak my mind if u don't mind. Hitler is not the paradigm of evil as westerners tend to portray him. Criminal of course, but no worse than the glorified "heros" and "saviours". Killing 6 million Jews is a stupid lie, just read the late Roger Garaudy's "les mythes fondateurs de la politique israélienne", or Norman Finklestein or Noam Chomsky, or any honest historian and you get more than convinced that this is a lie, a capital one. If anybody suffered from the Nazis, it was the Roma people (the gypsies) who went unsung. the real devils are the french colonists, the american leaders who burned millions alive (hiroshima, nagasaki, falouja, etc), winston churchill who was rarely sober, and always slept till noon, and Roosevelt who cheated his wife with many mistresses. Hitler is an angel compared to them, but you know , history is the story of the victor.
My point is let us not (mostly with innocence) propagate the Zionist and imperialist lies. i prefer Hitler's famous arm salute to that french minister of defense's ''bras d'honneur". Let us then call a spade a spade.
Million thanks, and billion apologies!

Re: Interesting facts about...
You're welcome aspire I would like also to thank you for the info you gave us. It seems that you like Hitler so here is my gift to you and all those who want to know more about Hitler.
a verrrrrrrrry valuable book
"This book remains the only complete and consecutive presentation of an important historical document...the official record of Hitler's 'table talk' as uttered at the height of his success. I'm glad to see this book back in print. It is surely necessary reading for students of Nazism and the Second World War. "
BY HUGH TREVOR-ROPER
OXFORD, SPRING 2000
One of the most significant documents of recent history, Hitler's Table Talk 1941-1944 records the private, off the record, informal conversations of a man, who, more than anyone else, came close to destroying the Western world.

Hellooooooooooooo Aspire,
I agree with EVERY words you've said!
When millions of muslims, or blacks and other 'low species' die, we're just a statistic for them and when one of theirs die (jews included) it's a real tragedy!!
Sorry if my words might offend anyone but it's just how I see things

Re: Interesting facts about...
Hey wassup ! ever body this topic is great keep it don’t stop. Actually I’m interested in studying the black people societies and I always consider Martin Luther king the black Baptist minister and the leader of the civil rights Movement a heroic icon that Black people are proud of due to his oratorical speech full of motivation and standing against the ghetto life. King also took a stand in the anti-Vietnam war and wished to unite poor people of all races in a poor people’s campaign.
Being an educator and having a doctorate degree in theology means this man is really great. His death surprised both black and white people. Talking about the Martin Luther king Day did not come easily but after many debates and President Ronald Reagan declared the third Monday in January a national holiday in the honour of this great leader.
I really have a debt about his killing was conspiracy planned by a secret organisation! A dangerous and powerful which has been planning for so many years to set its strategies.
There is another black militant, “The mother of the civil right Movement” Rosa Parks (1913-2005) she was arrested, tired and fined, which sparked off a movement of protest that was to have far-reaching consequences. The Montgomery improvement Association, led by the young pastor of Dexter Avenue Baptist church, Martin Luther King, was created; a 381-day-long bus boycott began, which brought their case to the attention of the world. There are so many typical and idol personalities who sparkled from the poor conditions of the Afro-Americans like Malcom X
an African-American leader, born Malcolm Little. He joined the Black Muslims in 1952, changed his ‘slave name’ to Malcolm X and became their leader in 1963. Their aim was to create a separate African-American nation, and he encouraged them to defend themselves in violent ways. In 1964, however, he left the Black Muslims to establish the Organization of Afro-American Unity, declaring that he was in favour of peace between the races. He was murdered, probably by Black Muslims, in Harlem. He wrote The Autobiography of Malcolm X (1964), and ‘Spike’ Lee directed a film, Malcolm X (1992), with Denzel Washington in the main role.
Oxford Advanced learners dictionary
So interesting aspects about Hitler’s personal preferences and tendencies. Once I heard that when Hitler was young student he was asked to draw something so he did as the teacher began to take the work of his students he noticed Hitler drew a work boot-shoe …. the earth another rumour he was asked about his future wish or career he replied that he wanted to dominate and rule the world….”

First, Welcome Karim Rap 4 Life among us.
Second, what you wrote is very interesting and I consider it as a summarize of my mémoire of graduation. Yes, Luther King, Rosa Parks, Malcom X and many other activists are the ones who deserve a big SALUTE of what they could do to the black minority in all over the world not just in their country.

Re: Interesting facts about...
Hi Karim, thanks for the post. i do like your passion for afro_americans: Hajj Malik Shabbaz (Malcolm X), Marcus Garvey, Du Bois, etc!
what i don't like, and can't understand, is why Martin Luther King supported and defended Israel since day one (1948). As a sufferer and a free soul, he should have understood the Palestinian plight better than anybody, but no he didn't. he was body and soul with the Zinists (may be because as a student of theology, he preferred the Jews who share part of the bible with the Christians(the old testament), may be it was not a conviction but rather a strategy to gain the support of American Jews?) Whatever, I prefer Garvey and Malcolm who refused to play the white game. The former was banished from the US, and the latter assasinated (by the FBI?)
thanks for raising this topic Karim!

Re: Interesting facts about...
Salam friends!

Well , we shouldn't hate him, though. Many great celebrities have a seamy side. He is still a brave fighter. (within the lines drawn by the whiteman), that's why we have a national day for him, but not for garvey, or malcolm X. (plz correct me if im wrong
