A Dream Algeria or the Algerian Dream Empty A Dream Algeria or the Algerian Dream

Many people think
I'm a dreamer, a crazy person sometimes, maybe I am, but is dreaming and
having high hopes and ambitions crazy? Maybe in our country it is

So here's my topic,

During the last few months I have been comparing our country to others,
Algeria with Tunisia namely, my cousin comparing Algeria with Canada,
others Algeria with France, Algeria with UAE, Saudia Arabia, and we
always come out with the same unique conclusion, what do they have in
those countries that makes them developed as such and we don't have?

For a very long time we have been blaming terrorism, the dark decade
Algeria has been through, but hey! that decade was over, about ten years
ago, in a mysterious but satisfying manner, the Algerian populations
feels much reliefed,

Do these countries have more
resources than Algeria?

Our soils have always been famous of their good quality wheat, our dates
are the best in the world, no need to talk about Oil, and yet most of
Oil companies in Algeria aren't Algerian, how sad A Dream Algeria or the Algerian Dream Down

then there is the population, well, here surfaces the difference, these
countries' populations are way too intellectual, open on other cultures
(to precise, I don't mean leaving our traditions, culture and Islam
behind, I mean intellectuals in the positive sense)
we do have intellectuals in Algeria, open minded, optimist but devided
into two types, the secularist type and the religious type. The second type is obviously
more favoured because they have religion as their life planner

Why doesn't the Algerian community read?

أمة
إقرأ لا تقرأ

I'm sure you heard this statement at least once,
while watching Khawater 5 on
MBC during Ramadan, we could see the Japanese with books all the time,
in the bus, in a waiting room, in the Subway, etc. So why don't
we read?

Many people in Algeria DO read, hamdolillah, but that is a small
MINORITY, the largest majority does not read but the worst is that they
make fun of people who read and the ignorant individuals intimidate the
younger ones when they see them reading, consequently, they are shied
from taking a book and start reading, and that is the case of most of
our society.

For a while I was telling people why don't we unify, work together on a
more developed Algerian society, more intellectual, more open minded,
more open on other cultures, an Algerian society which debates with
arguments but accepts other people's opinions, an Algerian society with
less violence, less aggressive attitude and more rationality, an
Algerian society not being fooled by trivia and more focusing on
essentials, an Algerian society who actually applies the virtues and
priinciples we learn in primary school, where the neighbours work
together to clean up their neighbourhood, where people make the Green
Day and plant trees in their neighborhoods, where they care about their
trash and their environment without thinking this is superficial, an
Algerian society who thinks that reading a book is actually beneficial
for them and not "someone who
doesn't have what to eat for dinner doesn't have
time to read a book
" because that is an answer I have been given
many times while telling these things,

I was thinking about, why don't we, all the young people that are in
their twenties today, work for this society, the key is of course youth
people, it all starts in school, it is time to stop making the dark
decade an excuse for the Algerian ignorance, it is high time to act, not
rely on the government because it
won't do much for a society not moving for a change,

People have been telling me keep dreaming, you are saying nice things
but these stuff won't be done because you will be alone, not if people
unify, thinking about one's benefit is good, but would it hurt to do sth for this
society, this society is just intimidated, it is afraid of optimism and
creativity, so why don't we wake it up in her?

I had a friend when I was 18, she was already 24 and she was planning to
start an association for women and children for the
same purpose, that is a better and more developed society, I couldn't
understand her at that time, nobody could understand her and her
ambitions were severly crushed, because she found herself alone.

Nobody can be do this alone, this
is why our religion tells us to unify, we can find everything in our
religion, we just need to stick to it.

As for the Algerian Dream,
unfortunatly, for many people has become to find a place in boat able
to make them reach Europe and settle there, or to get it in a legal
manner, this has become the Algerian
Dream
, and young generation full of dispair and negativeness,
whose only hope is to leave their MOTHER country
.

People in our country have become so negative that just by talking about
this they say: "it won't work!" "The government won't let you do it"
first what does the government has to do with this? and how do they know
it won't work since they have never tried it before?

No, I don't think that dreaming and having high hopes and ambitions are kind of insanity. It is just the weak people, who live their life without having targets to reach, or dreams to fulfill, or even hopes to realize who claim these fake assumptions taking the fact that many things, unfortunately, in our country are thrown into turmoil, as a ground for their claims. But we don't have to fall in the ropes of such false claims. We have to keep dreaming by a new bright day, and don't allow anyone, whoever he is, to shatter our hopes and dreams. We have to strive to get what we dream about.

Do these countries have more resources than Algeria?
Of course no. Algeria is considered as a rich country by its resources, it gives us everything, all what we need to be among the richest countries in the world. But there is just something which takes some other countries away from us, it is WORK. they knew how to exploit their resources and benefit from them. They knew how to turn the desert into paradise, how to turn the oil into gold. But we, we still don't know how to do that, all what we do is blaming the country for she didn't give us. So, to reach them, and why not be better than them, the solution, as you said, is in our union and work. Just by this that we can lead our country to a high level and overcome all the problems we are suffering from.
I know that some people will say that this is just a dream beyond the reach, others will say that it is just an illusion or a mirage. But no, I do believe that it is really what we need to do if we want our country to stand, it is what we have to do if we want to realize THE ALGERIAN DREAM...

Assalam 3alikoum, and thanks London for this topic..
Chinda with all my respect for your opinion, but I started to think that talking about hopes, ambition and the strong voluntary to do whatever you want is just some words to push kids to study and to make them dream of the nice future.....
We are seeing them everyday entering university with a strong energy, like they are going to rule the world with their infinite ambition, and then what?!! graduating? nice! and then what? waiting for an opportunity to get job, yes, he can get it but after what? 06 or 07 years? wow, what a future....
Yes, it's the Algerian dream, it's the youth's saying "I wanna go abroad"........
Change? that's what we need but "Allah doesn't change people till they change themselves", it's our mentaliy, we can't, it's very hard.....so Allah won't change us.

And even I'm a girl, I'm one of those who wanna migrate.............I love you ALGERIA, but......

Thank you Lon about the topic, i read it at the same day you posted it, i just didn't find what to say because in this case the illness and the treatment are already clear. And since we can't change a thing from our places, let's eat bread and keep silent... Even Aljazeera couldn't stop the corruption, what should we do! A Dream Algeria or the Algerian Dream Icon_cry
