The Other Boleyn Girl (2008)

Hi mates We often hear about the Tudors, king Henry the VII -notably his wives and mistresses due to his obssession to get a heir), and Anne Boleyn but almost never about her sister Mary Boleyn. This movie made everything so clear to me while i was studying British civilization.

I do not know why but i did not like the movie because i doubt that this story is true.

Hi bilinda Well, i did like it in the sense that it perfectly portayed the Todors' age and the harshness of policy at that time. But somehow you're right, one feels that some events were exaggerated ( I even found a video on youtube listing all the historical mistakes in the movie).

But considering that the movie is itself an adaptation of a novel -and like many other adaptations of works of fiction (just like North and South: Mr Thornton never beats a worker in the novel but in the movie he does), some events are added, others neglected and even omitted.

As I always say, a movie can never replace the novel or reality itself, but still it is a good material to make literature and history fascinating

You are SO right sassy, watching a movie is not enough and cannot replace reading a good book on history. I used such movies a lot and they helped me so much, I know what is the extent of correctness only if I check myself what actually happened in history.
