UNIVERSITY SAAD DAHLAB OF BLIDA
FACULTY OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES
DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH
CALL FOR PAPERS
NATIONAL COLLOQUIUM
26-27 NOVEMBER 2011

The English Department of the University of Blida is organizing its first national colloquium on the following theme: “Perspectives of Research in Didactics, Literature and Civilization of Foreign Languages.”

INTRODUCTION

Research paradigms, approaches and perspectives are reflective of an interdisciplinary dimension as they combine various critical tools used in: Ethnography compatible with a learner-centred approach; psychology which implies a variety of approaches as social psychology, second language acquisition, ethnolinguistics, cultural and popular psychology; ethnomethodology with its focus on cognitive psychology, sociocultural representations that underlie language and its culture, more compatible with an ecological approach. Another new paradigm is sociocultural anthropology, by nature a comparative discipline, with its emphasis on in-depth examination of context and intercultural comparisons.

All these reflections will contribute to take new research orientations in didactics, literature and civilization of foreign languages according to our sociocultural realities while teaching and learning the language and the culture of the other.

The aim of this national colloquium is to set up and validate a common Maghrebian framework of reference with theoretical and methodological models of research in foreign languages.

SUGGESTED TOPICS (non-exhaustive list):

1- Postcoloniality in literary and civilizational research
2- New perspectives of research in teaching, learning and evaluating foreign languages
