The Algerian Club of English Empty The Algerian Club of English

Post by Hush Fri Apr 01, 2011 1:42 am

The idea is to create an Algerian English Club with departments of English from the whole country (and members from abroad as well). We will start by creating a club in every department and I guess our friends in Ourgla University are doing great in that; then we'll organize the merge by establishing common objectives. That would allow mobility of students to attend events organized by a given department and to make different English learners get to know each other and get accomodated with the different aspects of the Algerian Culture. A national magazine will be one of the objectives of the Club.

I herein invite all the students and teachers as well from different universities to try to make the move. People from Blida, Ourgla and Laghouat departments of English are already in. Let's wake up!

We will first follow the administrative procedures to officially have one, but in the meanwhile we will be organizing some events (with the help of the head of the department I hope).

The club will run a magazine, a cineclub, study days and conferences, etc. Besides it will organize debates (internal and then external). It should have of course an online activity, i.e, a facebook group, a forum, a website, blogs, etc.

We will try later on when it is well established to work with the British Council and other domestic and foreign institutions.

That's the concept we have righ now for the club. Any creative ideas are welcomed.

what about organizing something for May 19th. It's students' day isn't it? it's an occasion to dispaly some written works in a wall magazine, and an opportunity to make LMD and classic students meet and exchange their talents, worries and hopes. We can also organize a debate: the Algerian student: What role(s)?
what do you think?

Who said that?
They have already started their work.
The desertion of this forum by its founders is a proof of this.

Praise be to Allah I am still alive, at least wait till I die and then make me say what I didn't say! The project is still on the run and I am trying to find the right way to make it start. I am working on it and started getting in touch with many clubs around Algeria! I don't have a magical stick and It's not my project but yours all! You can group yourselves together in the meantime and think in a creative way to find a way to get it started instead of the lame inhibiting words some enjoy spreading here and there!

Got you Hush! it was the only way to attract your attention and make you write again under this rubric. Why do you work alone on it? I mean contacting other clubs? Can't we do something in concrete terms?

I think I am not working alone and everybody is welcomed to help in whatever way it is possible. In concrete terms, contacts has been done with the club of Laghouat and Ourgla and trying others as well. In Blida, I tought of a day where we gather and explain what's the club and what should be done since practically it can't be officially opened in Blida before September. That doesn't mean we shouldn't perform some activities in the meanwhile and one of these activities will be the debate. There will be a debate animated next week, on monday from 14h to 16h normally in building 8 as a starter. If you have any other ideas jot them down and I'll be happy to work hand in hand with anybody who's interested. Regards
