totally right
"Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals."
Martin Luther King, Jr.

Re: The Quote of the Day
How many "dedicated individuals" do we have? unfortunately, most of us think too small and wish to succeed without struggle and suffering and sacrifice. thank you Sabine for these jewels of good sense from a struggling soul.

Re: The Quote of the Day
every time I read more about Ghandi, I'm more amazed. he is such a wise and awesome man I really like him
“Seven Dangerous Sins
Wealth without work
Pleasure without conscience
Science without humanity
Knowledge without character
Politics without principle
Commerce without morality
Worship without deal.”
Mahatma Gandhi

Re: The Quote of the Day
You're welcome aspire
I had chosen for today a quote from one of the most wonderful novels I had ever read Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice
"I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library."
Miss Bingley, Chapter 11.

Re: The Quote of the Day
This sentence really touched me. It's told by Tess (the pure woman) condemned by the harsh Victorian society from Hardy's Tess of the D' Ubervilles 'My life looks as if it had been wasted for want of chances! When I see what you know, what you have read, and seen, and thought, I feel what a nothing I am!'

Re: The Quote of the Day
Haven't read the book! would u recommend it?
Poor Tess, I sympathize with you, abrazos para ti!
the phrase reminds me of a filipino friend of mine who lamented our situation as third word citizens working so hard and barely making two ends meet: "We were born in the wrong place!"

Re: The Quote of the Day
Everyone should have a goal in his/her life. Don't live for the sake of living.
"The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well."
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
