hi i want to ask you mates what is the meaning of "nay" and how could we use it.

Hello, etymologically it is constracted from ne (not) and ei( ever); that would give an idea about it's meaning which is commonly to express the negative. Yet, it actually depends on the context for an exact meaning since it's no longer used except in voting saying the nay votes or voters, i.e. those who voted no. One of the uses I like of nay is when you say: That's a great play, nay, it's absolutely fabulous!

Dear bilinda, in writings by students or teachers (for students), it may not be a good idea to use terms no longer is use. Using old words may be interpreted as showing off, which is something you do not intend to do.
