Hello Gaby,
I just need to know whether you're a student at Blida Univ or elsewhere. I'd love to help you, but I'm not acquainted with what other teachers of Civ teach outside our Department of English (Blida).

Re: Everything about American Civ
Salam dida.
I think Alexis De Tocqueville is a MUST when dealing with American institutions. You will undoubtedly have to deal with it. Tocqueville travelled a lot and notably to America, analysed its political mechanisms and influenced what is today called the concept of 'democracy in Europe (he is said to have introduced the concept when he wrote Democracy in America). We dealt with it two years ago, it was so fascinating.
Though the book i advice you goes back to 1853 but ,in my view, Tocqueville is a MUST:
American Institutions and Their Influence (1853)

If you want something mere updated, though you will have to talk about Tocqueville , i'll send you a private message because the books are to be downloaded from googlebooks

Re: Everything about American Civ
How
can we explain the changing directions of the U.S presidency as an
institution? Explain the shift from conservative to an 'eclectic'
institution that could overcome racial constraints or back thought. (I'm
alluding to the Obama presidency)
Here I think it tackles both the cultural aspect and the political one.
The idea is evidently not mine, I thought of it after reading some books' reviews this morning. Books like:
Leadership the Barack Obama: Lessons on Teambuilding and Creating a Winning culture in Challenging times
Shelly Leanne, Shel Leanne
http://ifile.it/dqhlzj/ebooksclub.org__Leadership_the_Barack_Obama_Way__Lessons_on_Teambuilding_and_Creating_a_Winning_Culture_in_Challenging_Times.l_29x0x68x18.pdf
Not Even Past: Barack Obama and the Burden of Race
Thomas J. Sugrue
http://ifile.it/pue8w1/ebooksclub.org__Not_Even_Past__Barack_Obama_and_the_Burden_of_Race__Lawrence_Stone_Lectures_.l_29x0x68x18.pdf
The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream
Barack Obama
http://ifile.it/3sezgw/ebooksclub.org__The_Audacity_of_Hope__Thoughts_on_Reclaiming_the_American_Dream____.l_29x0x68x18.epub
Don't really know, but for me it seems updated and there's a lot of data on the matter.
