I think that this idea is so helpful because we all need and have to deal with abbreviations !! First of all, let me give a brief explanation about Abbreviations and Acronyms Smile

What are acronyms and abbreviations?

Simply stated, an abbreviation is any shortened form of a word or phrase and an acronym is a form of an abbreviation. In fact, there are two forms of abbreviation. First, there is the acronym: It is a word formed from the initial parts of a name and can be letters or syllables. For example, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is commonly known as NATO which is pronounced “nay toe” We are more familiar with sonar than we are with sound navigation and ranging. The word “acronym” was created by Bell Laboratories in 1943.

Then there is the abbreviation: It is formed by combining the first letters in a name or expression and each letter is pronounced separately. For example, the National Broadcasting Company is known as NBC.

So, my idea is basically just like "word of the day" or "quote of the day"! Im calling it "Abbreviation of the day ©️ " lol !
Let me start first ! (You can just give what the LETTERS stand for, or you can also add the meaning) : Like so :

NAACP: The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), a civil rights organization for ethnic minorities in the united States.

I hope you'll love my idea !

P.S: you can put any abbreviation! Medical, business, chat related ALL Very Happy x )

ENJOY !

JPEG or JPG: The term ("JPEG" is an acronym for the Joint Photographic Experts Group): In computing, JPEG is a commonly used method of lossy compression for photographic images. The degree of compression can be adjusted, allowing a selectable tradeoff between storage size and image quality. JPEG typically achieves 10:1 compression with little perceptible loss in image quality.

English Abbreviations
derived from Latin

Many abbreviations used in the English language were derived from Latin words. They are used so frequently that we often forget that the letters actually represent Latin words.

I used to find this abbreviation on some papers of our teachers. It is Ms. XXXXX.

The meaning of this abbrev. is: A title that comes before a woman's family name or before her first and family names together, and that can be used when you do not want to state whether she is married or not.

From: "OAED" - "Oxford Advanced English Dictionary".
