Depression Empty Depression

Post by bryne_kh2000 Wed Mar 10, 2010 11:45 am

Depression, sadness, grief and sorrow

These are words i get used to

"why all this ", many of you wonder

I will tell you in brief, with chronological order

It began early, when i was young

I had a cat, i called it "song"

I fed, played, and have  fun with "song"

Until the destiny, took it along

Falling from the roof, the distance was high

The way the cat died, i was shocked by

Since that cat was my devoted friend

I cried and cried, and was all the time sad

Trying to forget, by the help of time

I was not ready for the worst to come

My grandfather passed away suddenly

The only person i was living with in a harmony

Leaning down trying to kiss his forehead

"cheer up, it is life" these words i heard

witnessing the funeral, the soil was thrown

The crowd left, leaving him alone

I was still there in the middle of the dead

Staying to the sunset, i must be mad

It was cloudy, windy, to see was hard

On the death of my grand-fa, nature was sad

I stood up, took a last glance on his grave

To reach the cemetery door, i must be brave

With unsteady steps, and a random pace

Imagining the dead leaving their graves

Not looking back, i walked straight

Expecting a shoulder tap, i looked left and right

I felt better, one month later

More happier, and a little bit sadder

Hopeful, taking the advice of an old friend

"smile to life, will smile to you back" i tried

to forget the past, to seek for new start, i decided

But, unfortunately, when i did, smiles were expired....

Hello Bryne,

Your peom has not only an aesthetic value, but it's extended to tackle a common feeling in all of us. To lose the beloved ones makes us rhyme in a beautiful and in an effective way. I haven't found a better way to release the captured and unwanted feelings within, than using a pen on a sheet of paper, guided by the wide imagination. You've nailed both aims: A piece of art in addition to its deep meangings. Well-done Bryne. Carry on and never give up! Wish you the best.

interesting...you have Edgar Allan Poe's simple expression of deep melancholic feelings....make the beginnig deeper it would be a master piece.Develop the end, your poem is close to what is known as narrative poetry. I did like your poem...a nice surprise
