Are we decision makers?

Hello,

A teacher of mine once told me life is all about making decisions.We must know when to say "yes" and when to say "no" to the different proposals that life is repeatingly offering us.Sometimes we are given no more than one second in which we are to take a decision that will probably effect the rest of our lives.It is an abilility that may strenghten our self-confidence and may also increase our self-esteem.So,the question is,are we decision makers? If not,what are the steps should be taken to achieve this high level of firmity?

nice topic bro but I think this depends on the personality of the decision maker sometimes it will be wrong as well as sometimes it will be true . There r some prefer to ask others b4 making a decision . But 4 me no I prefer to make a mistake nd learn from it better than ask others . In addition there is ( salat l'istikhara) which I can ask GOD .

[ Nowadays we see many people attaching all the "failure" and the decline oi, the world to the decline of morals and ethics ,in fact, its not the lack of morals that is ruining the world its rather the unability of people(not only the leaders)to make decision.and i dont think that the ability to make decision
which trenghtens our self confidence yet its rather the other way a round because if we are confident enough in our capacities and abilities and in the way throught which we envision the world around us, i think it will be easy for us to analyse any situation and make a decision that we will assume its results.However this doesnt imply that we shoudnt hesitate,sometimes delaying making a decision is the right decision( but not so much as hamlet did)[/font]][/font]

hi .well i do believe also that life is just numbers of decisions,and we have to know when to say yes and when to say no ,but honstly i cannot take a decision by my own .it may be a weakeness in my personality but i perfer rather to take the advice of the others ,and than i make the decision that make me feel at ease.

It's is not a weakness in your personality not to make decisions BELINDA the problem is we are always afraid of the future since it is obscure to us and of the conseconses of our choices i mean to have a wrong decision sometimes will afect your life OR the path of it.I do ask for advise as well.

Well it's a nice topic W_ch thank you, our life is always based on making decision. for me i always do what i want if i want something i say "yes" if not i say "no" but most of the time befor taking a decision i have to ask someone i don't know may be as my friend Bilinda said it is a weakness in my personality but i do care so much to the others opinion, and of course i always do what i see it good for me.

Do you know a channel called decision makers? I've never really saw what's going on there but I thought there might shed some light for this topic It seems we all agree that WE (clown we not queen we ) all agree that we are decision makers, everybody is a decision maker of his own. I agree with most members who mentioned that decision making is not at no charge from external and internal powers.

To echo the others, life is all about making decisions. For me, it isn't always easy to decide for at times it's really difficult to choose and know it is the proper choice you made. How frustrating it is when facing important matters that you have to choose the right one! It certainly requires great confidence and strength from the part of the decision maker.

Most of the time I seek the other's advice, but I take none at the end only if it's my mother's. I choose what I want, what makes me comfortable the moment I take my decision. And though my mind fills with "what if…" and boggles afterwards, I admit it is better than letting another person make decisions for us. Allah knows best what's good for us and what's bad, therefore it's always better to seek his guidance.
May Allah guide us to the right path.

Even babies are decision makers, sometimes when a baby chooses the bottle feeding rather than his mother's milk he doesn't know it's the wrong choice!

well,i think is an important question because it gives us more information. as i know this decision depends on the personality of the person so we are who take our decision but with a control of our god because allah created us and also he is the responsible of our decision.

I strongly believe that every step we take in this life, however small, is an act of making a decision. However, we need to make a distinction between choice and decision. The former is about what your hearts wants and desires, while the latter is the thing that must be done regardless of what your heart tells you. That being said, no one ever knows if the decision they have made was right or wrong until they see the outcome. It's true we should rely on Allah in everything but I think that he didn't give us minds for nothing. No matter what result comes from the decision, it is useful. If the decision was right, then you did the right thing and if it was wrong, then there's surely a lesson learnt from it.
