Re: help......
Hi deaf . I had to face the same difficult decision last year at this same period. Well, I could have said yes since I think I have an acceptable level in French but I thought 'no, I studied English and that's what I'm meant to teach'.
I've seen some of my classmates with very very low level in French accepting the job. What can we say about that??
But I'm not saying you can't teach French or judging those who did, it's all up to you.
Now, if you feel up to it and you think you can deliver the same message a French graduate would, don't hesitate and go for it. I'll be here to help you with whatever is within my reach.
Just don't forget ضميرك يكون مرتاح
Good luck

Re: help......
The fact that you are willing to improve and do your best is in itself a nice step. I don't think you'll have to talk a very elaborated French with the kids or speaking it all the time, but you need to prepare and practice these days.
I'll be back, I'll try to find some books of French

Re: help......
Hello mates,
I wanna give my opinion about teaching french. Besides to what Sassy said,it is really a big challenge when you teach french instead of english that you've practiced for couples of years. It became as part of our daily life....that's the same happened to me last year. I was wondering if I could speak french as good as english or not? (just like you Deaf)
I didn't care about french lessons (grammer, vocabulaire or conjugaison...) as much as pronounciation and speaking. I was in a every night preparing the lesson, talking , talking and talking. It was strange at first because I got familiar with english, but by time every thing became easy and I could do my work in a good way.
Any way, I advise you to go ahead without hesitation.
Just revise and prepare your lessons in a simple way and you can feel better.
I wish you good luck .

Re: help......
Well Deaf,
I taught french in a middle school not in a primary one. But I think the latter is more easier. Because the program is simple as well as lessons and exercices.
About my experiance , it was amazing, full of challenges and pressures. I followed the program, lesson by lesson. In each lesson , I tried to gather a lot of information about ( in general , key words , its relation in our society if it's nessecery....) . Besides , we were doing two or three exercicses in a class, and two others as a homework.
The exercices are the key to know if the pupils are understanding or not. Because , from my own experiance, few pupils who could ask questions, sometimes no one.
As I told you before , your success or failure is only up to you.
You have to prepare the lesson well , just organize yourself.
Don't worry, you have time to know your pupils and their levels. Then, you'll find an appropriate way to convey the message to them.
Moreover , the theoretical side is completly differ from the practical one. Sometimes I prepared something but in class will be another thing. So, try to move on with the situation.
If you want any clarification, I'm here to help.

Re: help......
Hi Deaf, good luck for what you are going to do. I just want to give you one piece of information, since I had the same experience during two years, which is: TAKE RESPONSIBILITY from now that you will do your best in that job because it is your decision from the beginning and LEARN as much as you can during teaching them. It is obvious that teaching is a job that needs a lot of self efforts but in this case it will be twice in fact and as what sassy said that it is all up to you and remember that those who want to work look for means and those who don't look for excuses. GOOD LUCK.

Re: help......
Hi Deaf,
Normally you're ready now to start teaching french adventure .
Out of my experiance, I realized different things about dealing with pupils. I put some common rules that every teacher know about it. For example, every one must bring his own school supplies, no one can move from his place without asking permission, no one can get in class after you...and so on. This are few instructions you should tell them in order to let them take their first impression about you and follow your rules.
Maybe you say "it's unambiguous things, they know it without telling them". That's wrong, you have to tell them because they are going to behave according to your way of dealing with them.
Remember, every word you say, pupils pick it up.Either good or bad.
When you are explaining the lesson, and some pupils are bothering you. Avoid warning them each time, and (cutting) the lesson. because that's what they exactly want. In the contrary, be calm and use notebook to threaten them. As you know, pupils are afraid of minimizing their marks.
Furthermore, pupils like the kind of teachers who gets nervous easily, so as to waste time for nothing.
So, avoid such angry reactions which push you to say or do things inconsciously.
Well Deaf, these are some simple principles that I followed and it worked for me .
If you want more about which kind of teachers is the best and how to deal with students. we have posted such topics before.
See in "Didactics and psychopedagogy".
