Re: Secrets of body language
Every move you make, every word you say, every hand you sway, there are always people scrutinying you. Actually, the fact that there are some people who don't believe in such a power, it makes it easier for the experts to catch these victims off-guard. So, be careful

Yeah I guess so !
But don't you think that everything related to human beings is relative, it's not ALWAYS true coz you really can make mistakes judging that a given gesture means always this and this, no??

Re: Secrets of body language
I agree, humans are unexpected. It is the only unpredicatble element in the universe. Relativity is all about him. However, there are centain things in the human body that are uncontrollable. Take the polygraph ,which is used as a lie detector, as an example. A lot of people were caught using this machine and it is still acknowledged in courts. Of course, there are always professional liars that even a polygraph doesn't detect. They can bend the rules and get away with it. Well, I suggest to keep your detective skills under a continuous developement so that you can keep up with the pros

Re: Secrets of body language
Interesting video! thank you w_ch for sharing. Body language is absolutely useful for politicinas and actors (i. e. deceivers and liars) who spend their lives creating illusions and believing in them. Not for the lot of us who prefer spontaneity and directness and modesty. The most powerful of men (Muhammad PBUH) smiled like a child, and was led by a very young Jaariyah through the Medina, without him even complaining or trying to stop her; he who was the most valiant commander and warrior and founder of a great nation; he who was supported by the might of God and Gabriel. The video speak of Bush as a master of body lge and as an emblem of power, but to many minds he is the most ignorant and lazy boozer who ever governed America. Look at Al Marzouki of Tunisia who wears no tie, and is no charismatic, yet admired for his sincerity and devotion. Those "powerful" world leaders shake under their carpets for fear of poorly dressed bearded fighters who know the difference between real manly power and the illusion of it (tuxedos and hand shakes). I for one prefer honesty.

Re: Secrets of body language
I beleive teachers need to understand their student's non verbal language and use it the right way in the classroom. For that you should first beleive in its power

Re: Secrets of body language
Dear aspire,
Thank you for this powerful reply. I tried spontaneity once but it didn't work out. Yes, Islam forbids deception and lying, nevertheless, everybody does it. Islam doesn't forbid us from learning different things that might protect us in the future. I know that the prophet PBUH did ask from one of the companions RA to master Hebrew and which he did in a matter of weeks. The prophet PBUH was the Master at wars, and I will remind you of battle called "El Khande9" or "El Ahzab". He used wits and intelligence to overpower his/our enemies. These are just examples to show that knowledge is power. Once you have the tools, you are responsible of their use. "With great power comes great responsibility" Body Language is a tool, the way you use it is counts on you. Thank you again and keep your replies coming

Body language doesn't always mean lying or pretending ! However, it is often spentaneous, that's why it's easier to read a person through understanding his/her non verbal language. Most of the time we don't think of gestures we make, except if we want to act ! and "a good teacher is a good actor" I was told once...

Re: Secrets of body language
Thank you w_ch for the clarification.
I 'm not here to defend Islam or to pretend to be well versed in Islamic matters. I just gave the example of our Prophet (among other examples), so don't get me wrong!
Besides, I deem it unfair to compare our day-to-day life routine to war with the mushrikeen or the Jews. Deception is an excellent war tactic, but never acceptable in daily life.
In a word, mastery and understanding of body lge are efficient tools in the hands of criminologists, psychologists, analysts, but (i repeat) "the common lot of us" do well without it, to act normal and honest. And I'm sorry spontaneity did nt work out well for you.
best regards kho!

Re: Secrets of body language
Dexteria,
I totally agree that a good teacher uses non verbal communication (visual aids, realia, his body, etc) and mimes and acts. The body language helps a lot in a learning situation, but if I meet you one day, i will not think of how to shake hands, how to carry myself, and whether or not I should tap on your back, i just act easy
