Hi liza Smile

Well, marxism and post-colonial studies are very much related in literature, and there are various reasons for that.

First, marxism as you all know gives much importance to class-struggle and the subsequent exploitation of these classes by some political and economical forces.

Since postcolonialism is MAINLY and EXCLUSIVELY dealing with imperialism (one form of exploitation marxism is interested in), many postcolonial critics have relied on Marx and Lenin' theories to give their works meaning and echo.

Besides, many theories of postcolonialism (as the term subaltern and many others are terms initiated by Marxist critics like Antonia Gramsci and many many others)

Two important points :

****I REALLY REALLY advice you to have a look to this essay I have posted which gives a very amazing view of Lenin on imperialism, this will really show you how the two literatures came to be inter-related !!

It's called Petals of Blood , i'll scan it and post it now

****REcently in literary studies we have what we call anti-marxist postcolonial theory. It means that literary critics now saw that the study of literature , notably postcolonial literature, should be separated from politics
