Do you know Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch ??!!
Hi mates No, I haven't made any typing error For such posts I can always rely on my father to find the most unusual articles on the net
So Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, my friends, is the longest place name in Europe with its 51 letters. It is the name of a village in Wales
Too hard to pronounce, right ? Well, so ther's a short form of the village's name Llanfairpwllgwyngyll . Still hard to pronounce?? Well, the "ch", "ng" and "ll" letters in the Welsh alphabet are single letters. Let's see what it means at least
The name's meaning:
The name means: St Mary's church in the hollow of the white hazel near to the rapid whilpool of Llantysilio of the red cave
* The village is a touristic attraction. Tourists would mainly visist the place to take photographs near the sign at the railway station which gives an approximation of the correct pronunciation for English speakers
*** The name was also used in the movie Barbarella as the password for the headquarters of Dildano.
I think it's a good idea to use it as a password
